Profoto Pro-B Head, that gives you 1200 Ws flashes and a 100 W modeling light while weighing only 1.8 kg. Small and compact for easy traveling.</p>
<p>Working on location is always a challenge: There is not enough time. There is not enough space. There is not enough light. And worse: there is no electricity. Avoiding the inconvenience of a gas generator, you will look for battery-powered gear. Which traditionally means serious compromise in power and features. But not any more. Leaving the studio with the Profoto Pro-7b, you are bringing 250 full power 1200 Ws flashes. Along with two lamp outlets accepting the entire range of Profoto light shaping tools. And all of that in a box that recycles in just 2.8 seconds. Use it While Recharging it Back in the studio, using the snap-on universal power adapter, the Pro-7b can actually operate as a regular ?ash generator while the battery is being recharged. The adapter is fast, charging an empty battery in just 2.5 hours, and it accepts a wide range of input power: 12–24 V or 90–240 V. Included with every Pro-7b is a standard 110/230 V charger, loading the battery in 5 hours. Needless to say, the battery is replaceable. In other words, you just bring as much energy as needed. Also, because the Pro-7b battery is completely memory free, there is no penalty for partial charging.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/F9photo-20111113-20111113-D56D8933.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-581" title="F9photo-20111113-20111113-D56D8933" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/F9photo-20111113-20111113-D56D8933-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>The output power can be adjusted over a full seven f-stop range, from 18.75 Ws up to 1200 Ws, in increments of 1/6 f-stop, for really precise control. The two outlets allow the power to be split symmetrically or asymmetrically with a 2:1 ratio. Of course the unit provides consistent output flash after flash, hour after hour. Designed for the rugged conditions on location, the Pro-7b features sturdy knobs, rubber-clad grips and frames, as well as the outlets and switches conveniently placed on top. Also, the generator is equipped with the Profoto special non-arching safety connectors, for easy connecting/disconnecting of the head at any time. Fully integrated with the Pro-7 system.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/F9photo-20111113-20111113-D56D8958.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-586 aligncenter" title="F9photo-20111113-20111113-D56D8958" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/F9photo-20111113-20111113-D56D8958-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Pro-7b accepts all Pro heads : the ProHead, the ProRing, and the ProTwin head. Designed for the Pro-7b, there is also the smaller Pro-B Head: light and portable, but still equipped with a strong 100 W modeling lamp. Worth a special mention is the ProTwin head. With two separate Pro-7b generators, it gives you 2400 Ws in a single head – or faster recycling.</p>

<p>Over the last 3 moths I have been using the Kessler Crane shuttle pod as my primary motion control system.  Its ability to tear down into 4-foot sections, and its fast onsite setup has made it my default motion system.  I have come to the conclusion that size does matter.  The ability to shoot a 20 foot motion rail shot vs a 4 foot motion shot makes all the difference in the dramatic depth of field shifts that I want for the effort to setup rails for a shot.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3039.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-553 aligncenter" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3039" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3039-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.kesslercrane.com/shuttle-pod-s/87.htm">Shuttle Pod</a> and 20 feet of track will pack will all fit in a <a href="http://t.co/OIthWQO">Pelican IM3300 hard case</a>.  The weight is just under 70 pounds and will be airline legal if you use media rate.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2966.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-532" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2966" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2966-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>The shuttle pod is a simple but stable design-using squire tubing connected with aluminum stays.   A sled aka Shuttle Pod is attached to the top and uses an omega drive belt system to pull the sled across the track.</p>
<p>To setup of the shuttle fist pull out and attach the rails</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2990.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-539" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2990" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2990-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Then attach the rails with the center braces.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2972.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-535 aligncenter" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2972" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2972-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Use the 1/4 20 bolts to build the rails</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3001.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-543" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3001" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3001-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>The rails are then attached to the end braces</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2982.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-538" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2982" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2982-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Then the shuttle pod is build</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2997.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-542" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2997" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2997-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Run the belt down the length of the track and use the end belt connectors to fastend them tight</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3016.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-547" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3016" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3016-750x1125.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="1125" /></a></p>
<p>Thread the belt though the drive using the powerd on basic controller.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3035.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-551" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3035" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3035-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Now set up the shuttle pod movement and program your timelapse.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3033.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-550" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3033" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D3033-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Originally I used the <a title="Kessler Oracle Controller" href="http://www.kesslercrane.com/product-p/100140.htm" target="_blank">Kessler Oracle Controller</a>, which is a large joystick box able to control any of the Kessler motion production like the <a title="Kessler Crane Revolution Head" href="http://www.kesslercrane.com/product-p/100117.htm" target="_blank">revolution head</a></p>
<p>For this test I used the new <a title="Kessler Crane elektraDRIVE BASIC Controller" href="http://www.kesslercrane.com/product-p/100139.htm" target="_blank">Kessler Crane elektraDRIVE BASIC Controller v2.0</a>.</p>
<p>This little box is deceivingly simple.  In fact, if you’re not aware of all its functions, you will think its just a right left button with a rheostat dial to move the sled left or right.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2979.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-537" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2979" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2979-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Hiding beneath the three-control design are multiple movement modes depending on how long you hold the two red buttons to set the mode.</p>
<p>The BASIC Controller has 3 modes.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Momentary Mode: </strong>
<ul>
<li>Hold down the direction button and the carriage moves as long as the button is held down. Variable speed can be adjusted &#8220;on the fly&#8221; while the carriage is in motion.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong>Continuous Mode:</strong>
<ul>
<li>Press direction button once to begin carriage movement, and press it again to stop it.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong>Pulse Mode: </strong>
<ul>
<li>This mode allows you to make ultra-slow movements that can be used for basic time lapses.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2973.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-536" title="F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2973" src="http://www.f9photo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/F9photo-20110511-20110511-_56D2973-750x500.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>To switch between modes turn the dial counter clockwise all the way to 1 and hit both red direction buttons at the same time.  The solid LED light should turn green, orange or red to indicate the mode.</p>
<p><strong>Momentary Mode (Green LED): </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Hold down the direction button and the carriage moves as long as the button is held down. Variable speed can be adjusted &#8220;on the fly&#8221; while the carriage is in motion.</li>
<li>LED light will be green when in Momentary Mode</li>
<li>LED will flash orange when you are pressing the red direction button in the direction you want to move the motor.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Continuous Mode (Orange LED): </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Press direction button once to begin carriage movement, and press it again to stop it.</li>
<li>LED light will be orange when in Continuous Mode</li>
<li>Dial the speed dial to the motor speed you want</li>
<li>Hit red direct button</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Pulse Mode (Red LED): </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>This mode allows you to make ultra-slow movements that can be used for basic time lapse</li>
<li>Pulse speed setup indicated by flashing RED LED</li>
<li>1 flash = 50 oracle motor speed</li>
<li>2 flash = 80 oracle motor speed</li>
<li>3 flashes = 120 oracle motor speed</li>
<li>Push both buttons to confirm and LED will turn solid red.</li>
<li>Each time the LED turns green the pulls is being fired.</li>
<li>The variable dial controls the frequency of the pulses</li>
<li>Motor direction can be controlled by the red direction buttons.</li>
</ul>
